Tour Dates for SEMPA

This is a screenshot from the wix website we created for Sempa, with this specific slide being focused on Sempa's first tour.

At the top we have given lots of detail about his tour, this is a good starting point for everyone to read, because they get a strong understanding about it. Underneath the introduction, we see all the dates of the tour and where the events are taking place. To get this on the website, we linked up with bandisintown and our Facebook page. This allowed us to release tour dates, as well as having interactive buttons, which leads you to booking to the tour.

Without having bandisintown, we would have had to make separate links to a separate website to get it booked. This is why I made a facebook page, to allow bandisintown to work with it. It is easily accessible for anyone to book with all the information necessary.

Footage Gone Wrong

Throughout filming for a music video, you are always going to have bits of footage that didn't go right, with the acting being messed up. We did mess up quite a bit of footage, but the big problem was how much good footage we didn't use, because it was either from France which we didn't use, or it was drone footage that we were not able to put on premiere without the footage being slow.

When we messed up footage, it normally wasn't our fault, it was just the problem of filming in places where there were many people around, this caused the filming to be messed up. It wasn't because the sound, because that could be edited, but we wanted shots where Max could be the main focus and not be centre of the picture. We normally realised the footage wasn't that great when we went back to edit, rather than the exact time we were filming. When filming, we just tried to collate as many shots as possible. Sometime the quality of the shots was poor as well, so that was a lot more that wasn't very helpful.

Edit inspiration

Here is one of the photos that have been taken for the digipak. I have done this effect on the picture as it goes well with the transparency theme in the entire video. It also links in with one of the effects done in the music video.

Edited Photo

Here is a photo that my group made using photoshop. We have used inspiration from the music video to ensure that our theme is relevant and consistent. I really like the outcome of this picture as it gives it a splintered effect which is visible throughout our video using different effects.

Personally I think the filming did go really well as we managed to get all the shots that we had planned to get and all the resources were generally nearby and accessible. Having done a lot of research for inspiration definitely put our group to an advantage as it allowed us to pick out our favourite shots that we felt looked professional and mimic them. The only downside to our filming I'd say is since the second character 'ALTORA' was a stranger before the video, in the first couple of shots he looked visibly uncomfortable and less confident. Thankfully this changed after we showed him the stealomatic of what we wanted our video to look like, this made him more confident in knowing what outcome we wanted to achieve.

First Draft (editing) Peer Feedback

Overall we got some good reviews with our grade ranging from levels 3 to 4 in every aspect. Most the feedback is similar, saying that the editing theme is very popular especially the Justin Bieber inspired part. Sempa the main character manages to get into character well however Altora struggles a bit with his confidence and looks a bit more hesitant, this could be solved by putting in more fillers rather than lip syncing. As our theme is urban/street it is easy to make some of the shots look a bit repetitive which has been picked up by our peers, brainstorming ideas for replacement shots could be a way we improve. The rest of our feedback consisted of things such as applying a warp stabilizer to some of our shots to make them a bit more smooth and adjusting some of the colours and contrast which was designated to be done towards the end of the process. The drone footage seemed to be very popular therefore we concluded that we were going to put more in.

Sempa Fashion

Sempa's fashion we aimed for, was mainly jeans or tracksuit bottoms and a track top or jumper. We did this to go with the stereotype of rap, so people really understood the genre. We kept this constant throughout the music video, digipak and website.

When we started we didn't realise how important fashion and costume would be, but when you are trying to give off a star image it is very important, because all the viewers are going to analyse Sempa whatever he is wearing, so you want him to give off the right vibes.

When we were putting pictures on the website and digipak, we had to make sure he looked good in the fashion, or that the fashion backed up the stereotype, otherwise viewers might straight away not like him. Due to this being the first time that many people will ever see Sempa, it is utterly crucial they see him in a good light.

Reviewing Our Filming

Throughout our filming for the single 'Rolling With Elephants', we had a lot of completely abstract shots which made viewing a lot better. Such as the drone footage which proved to be very popular for viewers and fans of Sempa. We felt that overall our footage and filming was successful, although it was hard to implement the drone footage around the main footage.

If we could've added more drone footage we would've done, because of how professional it looked, but we had said that too much of it wouldn't suit our artists genre, which is the main objective. Some of the footage is a bit wobbly as well, so if we had more time we would've filmed certain bits again to get the most crisp shots.

Magazine Cover

To create this magazine cover we used Photoshop to cut out the background of the image and the words 'Vibes'. We decided to have our magazine cover as a basic brick background as after researching other magazines we found that having a block colour was a common theme. This corresponded with the image that we're trying to make Sempa give off of being quite streetwise. We added some more cover lines to either side to make it appear professional and real.

Reflection:
After listening to feedback from our peers we decided to improve our article. They said it appeared to be professional due to the consistent theme, font and colours. The font corresponds well with the bland basic background of the brickwork which suggests a professional photoshoot and shows successful planning. Our teacher gave us feedback on our magazine cover and suggested that we present it in a way that would make it look 3D.
