Voyeurism (Freud) - erotic pleasure can possibly be gained by looking at sexual objects, preferraby when the object is unaware of being watched. For example: Beyonce - If I Were A Boy. For example in this video beyonce is filmed undressing, and then filmed in a natural everyday environment to show how naturally attractive she is. The close ups have been sexualised by beyonce having a light gaze look in her eye.
Male Gaze (Laura Mulvey) - Mulvey proposed that because film makers are predominantly male, the presence of women is often for the purposes of display rather than narrative. This is to facilitate a voyeuristic response in spectators, which presumes a male gaze (regardless of the gender of spectator) one that is or may feel like a powerful controlling gaze at the female on display who is effectively objectified and passive. In male performance videos the voyeuristic treatment of the female body is often apparent with the use of dancers as adornments to the male star ego.
For example: Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines. Here the males are consistently dominant over the ladies. This is clear because of the difference in how clothed the females are compared to the males. The women are acting as toys for the men in this video.
Exhibitionism- The female performers whilst being sexually provocative are in control of this and inviting a sexualized gaze in what could be termed as the opposite of voyeurism. An example of this is Rihanna's - Kiss It Better. Rihanna is drawing attention to her body with the poses that she is doing and by laying down and purposely being seductive.
Raunch Culture - (Andrea Levy) a culture which promotes overtly sexual representations of women as through the acceptance of pornography stripping nudity in advertising, etc especially when this is encouraged by women.
